Has 2015 been a good year for you?
No, not especially. Well, the first month was great, the next nine were horrendous, and it's been slowly getting better since then.

What did you do in 2015 that you'd never done before?
Landed on the wrong end of a lot of bureaucracy.
Went to a massive national awards dinner as a shortlisted finalist.
Went to a kitty café.
Edinburgh Pride
Cycled 115km in one day.
Then 130km in one day the next month.
And 150km in one day the month after that.
Entered a bouldering competition.
Entered an Audax (long distance cycling event) on a solo bike.
Related to previous, fell off my bike at high speed requiring a hospital visit..
Went to a trampoline park.
Watched roller derby in person.
Went to Toronto.
Went to Niagara Falls.
Visited the Statue of Liberty.
Went pole dancing.

What goals do you have for 2016?
To stay sane for the final year of my degree, and more trivially, something I haven't come up with a good name for, that'll be a cross between the #365selfies thing I've seen a few people do this year, and the #100happydays thing I did after my birthday in 2014 (because making an effort to find one thing every day that made me happy was a surprisingly happy experience, would you believe?!)

 How did you spend Christmas?
In London, with my boss, and his utterly enormous family. It's been brilliant, and exhausting. (Also on videochat with Dave, and the phone with my mum and brother back home.)

How will you spend New Year?
Dancing at a goff night in a church. Again :)

How much travelling did you do this year?
Again, a lot in a short space of time: Toronto for 1½ days, Niagara Falls for one day, an Amtrak carriage for one day, and NYC for five days.

What would you like to have in 2016, that you lacked this year.
Permission to attend lectures and placements as part of my degree, mostly. (Thankfully, I am pretty sure this will happen. I was cleared, though I'm still waiting for a letter confirming that I can register for the year.)

What events from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
9th February 2015 - being told I was being sent home from my placement.
18th March 2015 - the interview at university.
1st October 2015 - the day I was cleared of any wrongdoing.
Christmas Day - reading something entirely unexpected and quite wonderful, which made me cry for happy reasons.

What was your biggest achievement of the year? What was your biggest learning experience?
Getting through the bureaucracy at university in one piece - and how to deal with it if you end up on the wrong end of such a process. (Step zero, before it happens: JOIN A UNION.)

Did you suffer illness or injury?
Fell off my bike in July, resulting in large haematoma on my elbow for about two weeks.
Stood on glass at my birthday in August, which I didn't realise was still inside my foot and thus spent three weeks making it worse. It took a month to get it out…
Epic cold of doom in December - a throaty cough, blocked sinuses, a blocked up nose and a chesty cough, one after the other. Still seeing off the chesty cough four weeks after I started with the first symptoms…

What was the best thing you acquired?
New laptop! And the stickers on it :)

Where did most of your money go?
In a remarkable change from every other year I've done this, I cannot say travel this time. At least, not "train tickets". I have spent quite a lot of money on cycling-related things, though :)

What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going to BiCon
My birthday celebrations (including previously mentioned trampoline park)
Going to Toronto, Niagara Falls, and NYC

What songs will always remind you of 2015?
Frank Turner - Get Better

Did you acquire any new hobbies?
Not a new acquisition, but I rediscovered track cycling after a 13 year break.

What do you wish you'd done more of in 2015?
Seeing my friends. Or even just finding time to talk to them, really. I've spent most of the year with a lot on my mind, and nearly every week working full-time hours (<em>not</em> including the 20+ hours of sleeping night shifts) and that has really impeded on my ability to leave Manchester at all (but has done wonders for my ability to pay off debts, and although I have overdrafts still, I have breathing room in them again) … but only the first having-a-lot-on-my-mind part is really a good excuse for not picking up the phone now and again.

What do you wish you'd done less of in 2014?
Worrying. As ever?

Did you fall in love this year?
If I haven't, I'm about -&gt; &lt;- this close…

What music did you listen to most in 2015?
Frank Turner, VNV Nation, James.

What TV did you watch in 2015?
Agent Carter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Orange is the New Black S2, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, House of Cards. Probably starting on Jessica Jones before the year is out.

What was your favourite movie of 2015?
Either Iron Man or Captain America. I <em>know</em> they're not 2015 releases, I don't care. I didn't see them until this year :p

What books did you enjoy most in 2015?
The Perks of Being a Walflower - Steven Chbosky
Instructions for a Heatwave - Maggie O'Farrell
The Accidental Life of Greg Millar - Aimee Alexander
Daughter - Jane Shemilt
Ice & Lemon - Pete Hartley

What was your best culinary experience of 2015?
Discovering the Lebanese takeaway near work. *buries face in halloumi*

What political issue stirred you the most?
The Tories systematically destroying the NHS.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 28, and I had a small thing at home with friends and board games, followed by trampolining and Five Guys the next day.

Who was the best new person you met?
…probably actually my boss.

Who did you miss the most?
All the friends I didn't get to hang out with, but especially the Oxford gang. Also, Dave.

What did you want and get in 2015?
If we're going by the list of things in last year's answer to the next question but one… nothing.
I did get two of 2013's wishes for 2014, though, which were more disposable income and more cycling.

What did you want and not get in 2015?
The chance to go on to Finland at all, never mind kick arse on my placement there.
To see the Northern Lights.
To enjoy the last year of my degree.
To see more of my friends.

What are your wishes for next year?
To enjoy the last year of my degree.
To see more of my friends.
