katie writes stuff

I went home last night to spend Mother's Day with my mum and sister, and today we went out for a walk with one of my mum's friends, Liz, and her dog, Bud, in the Torrs, just down the road from the cottage we lived in for a few months when I was six. We sat and watched the Archimedes' Screw for a while, which powers the local supermarket, but it wasn't as impressive as I'd expected.

The Torrs is very pretty; I only wish I'd been older when we lived there so that I could appreciate it better.



We threw sticks for Bud whilst Elizabeth collected frogspawn



and we had a picnic with chicken drumsticks, gala pie, cheese, yogurt, apples, gingerbread and hot chocolate. Then we slowly made our way back to Liz's house with a very sulky dog who would clearly have run around outside for another few hours if we'd let him and Elizabeth and I played with Liz's daughters' rats for a while before I had to catch the bus back to Derby.
